Default Living together divorce rate

I come from a very catholic, conservative family and I hesitate to recommend living together. Still, I personally don't think it is morally wrong to do so. However, statistically, there is a higher divorce rate among couples who lived together before marriage. Whether it is a cause-effect or just a correlation is unclear to me.

My girlfriend and I have had this discussion and we agreed that we would only do something like that for economic purposes. It's a shame when you have to keep it a secret from your family. Be sure to think about the implications of living a secret like that. Whatever you do, practice safe sex!!
