Default Credit limit decreased; Hospital debt collection

I went to the emergency room back in August of 2006. The hospital and the doctors knew that I did not have health insurance, however, they still performed an expensive procedure. I was there for a couple of hours, at the end of the day I was still in pain and they informed that they did not see anything wrong in my results.

Recently I received a letter from Chase saying my credit card limit had been decreased do to my recent bad credit. I went to freecreditreport.com to see what was going on and found that the hospital I went to in August sold my account to a collection agency. I disputed the charge but was denied. I called the collection agency and they told me that I had to pay the bill.

I want to fix my credit. What should I do?

Pay them and get over it or don't pay them and have them hound you for years. You should have gone to a free clinic or your family doctor. You chose to go to the ER and you chose to allow the tests to be run and you chose not to pay the bill.
